Meet Shelly L. Lash, MD
from Central Ohio Newborn Medicine

A western Michigan native, Dr. Shelly Lash attended medical school at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed her fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Between education and training, Dr. Lash has lived across the Midwest and is delighted to join the Columbus community as part of Central Ohio Newborn Medicine.

Dr. Lash loves caring for NICU babies and says she is always impressed by their incredible resilience. An accomplished academic in the field of Neonatology, Dr. Lash has delivered lectures on birth injuries, gastrointestinal embryology and malformations, fetal lung development and platelet transfusion thresholds in neonates.

As a medical fellow, Dr. Lash taught newborn physical examination skills to medical students at Indiana University, and facilitated a Helping Babies Breathe workshop during the national VON Conference in 2018. Dr. Lash also traveled to Kenya where she spent a month in an Eldoret newborn unit to study the referral system for small and sick infants, before presenting the study results at the international COINN Neonatal Care Conference in Nairobi. Dr. Lash is dedicated to ongoing professional development and continues to engage with the Indiana School of Medicine’s Global Health Track, a program that works with medical practitioners who have a long-term commitment to global health issues.

Outside of work, Dr. Lash is an avid runner, loves traveling and spending time with her husband, Ricky, at their new home in Hilliard.
